Minimalistic Movie Posters
So for some reason I have this dire love for minimalistic designs. I think it’s primarily based on this idea of being able to strip away designs until only what is truly necessary and important is left.
The Design Brief
That is where my idea for some minimalistic movie poster came from. Movie posters are typically the epitome of clutter and sensationalism; a movie posters goal is to catch someone’s attention in a split second as you pass that bus stop or are about to buy your movie ticket. So thats when I thought, why not make a poster with the same purpose in mind, but from the opposite end of the spectrum.
The Poster Explanation
The posters pretty much speak for themselves, but to give a brief synopsis about them: The Thank You for Smoking & Dodgeball Posters center around the physical items that both the movies center around (a cigarette and a dodgeball, in case you were lost). The two Toy Story posters center themselves around two of the characters of the movies: Buzz Lightyear and one of the Aliens (the ones from Pizza Palace).
I think that by having the physical items and characters as the centerpieces of the posters it allows the viewer to connect with with posters and yet still portray an air of mystery around it.
